The transfer of the state-owned Sociedad Estatal Correos y Telégrafos to SEPI is formalized
SEPI’s Vice President and its General-Director, Mr. Federico Ferrer and Mr. Francisco Ruiz, respectively, and the General-Director of Patrimonio del Estado, Mr. Carlos San Basilio, have formalized the transfer of the shares of Sociedad Estatal Correos y Telégrafos (the Spanish state-owned Post Office company) to SEPI, the state-owned industrial holding company Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Industriales.
The above formalization takes place in keeping with the resolution of the Council of Ministers which took place on March 16th, 2012, which authorized “the transfer of all the shares hold by the State, and which represent the whole share capital of the state-owned company Sociedad Estatal de Correos y Telégrafos to the public sector entity Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Industriales, SEPI”.
The attachment of Correos – which at the end of the financial year 2011 had a workforce of 58,170 workers - to SEPI, means also the inclusion into SEPI of all of Correos’ affiliated companies, Chronoexprés, Correos Telecom and Nexea Gestión Documental.

Thus, Correos already belongs to the SEPI Group, a holding which includes a total of 18 state-owned enterprises, in which the State has a direct and majority participation – with an aggregate workforce of over 80,000 employees – the state-owned radio and television corporation Corporación Radiotelevisión Española, over which it has management faculties, and two public foundations. Equally, SEPI has direct minority shareholdings in another 7 enterprises, and indirect shareholdings in more than 100 enterprises.
