INFORMATION ABOUT AGENCIA EFE

Agencia EFE is the forth largest news agency in the world and the first in the Spanish speaking world, being present in over 100 countries and having a significant diffusion both in Spain and in Spanish-speaking American countries.

EFE has continued maintaining a leading position in the Spanish market, thanks both to its progress in the text and in the digital content products and in the archive and graphic services.

Activity in year 2011:

Agencia EFE continued applying the Strategic Plan started in 2010 with the aim of facing a very difficult environment in its industry, with a number of measures which seek to adapt the product supply to a multimedia environment and to organize its human and technical resources for implementing the process of change.

All these actions have not succeeded in cushioning the impact of the crisis on the turnover, with a 6.6% reduction in sales in the domestic market, due to the cancellation of subscription contracts, besides the reduction in the amount of the Service Contract which the State has subscribed with the Agency.

The strategy which seeks to reinforce its presence in the main Spanish-speaking markets in the United States and South America has achieved to increase by 6% its international turnover and to confirm the leading position which the Agency enjoys in those areas.
