CORREOS is awarded the certification of Healthy Company with a good mark
07 March 2016 |
- It is a corporate recognition, which sets apart those companies which are committed with the safety, wellbeing and health of their employees
- CORREOS is the first state-owned company to be awarded this certificate in Spain
CORREOS has been recognized as a company committed with the safety, wellbeing and health of its employees, and has been awarded the certificate of Healthy Company with a good mark. This grade has a yearly follow-up and is valid for three years.
A healthy working environment is that one in which the employees and the chefs collaborate in a continual improvement effort for promoting and protecting the health, safety and wellbeing within the company. The score achieved is “good” because it is guaranteed the fulfillment of the environmental, quality, health and safety norms and regulations, and it points out that CORREOS is carrying out a large number of activities as part of the concept of a Healthy Company.
Being a Safe, Healthy, and Sustainable company means, besides meeting the legal requirements on risk prevention at work, managing the employees’ health with a comprehensive approach and having it in mind in all the company’s policies.
Until now there are no large state-owned companies which have got this certificate. Any company, large or small, can be authenticated as long as it meets those requirements which the certifying company is going to assess and fits the model of healthy organization stated by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Applus+, the first multinational company in certification, inspection and trials in Spain, has been in charge of auditing through the overview of more than 160 indicators for several variables and certifying CORREOS as a Healthy Company.
Three healthy initiatives
CORREOS keeps working on improving that mark through such projects as the new campaigns on which is focused the strategy of Healthy Correos. Currently there are three of them: Cardiovascular Risk Reduction; Creating Health; and the Wellbeing and Health Channel.
The campaign Cardiovascular Risk Reduction is born with the goal of promoting healthy habits which reduce the factors which generate the cardiovascular risks. It began, as a pilot project, in Alicante, and it will last for six months. It consists in personalized interviews with doctors and nurses of the area in which the campaign is taking place, in this case from the region of Valencia and from Murcia, and they are based on raising the awareness and the knowledge about the importance of acquiring healthy living habits.
Creating Health is another of the initiatives set up for preventing lesions regarding bone and joint pathologies. It is a project began in Barcelona and which involves orientation workshops at the workplaces themselves, provided by specialists from Spanish universities and physiotherapeutic university centers, among others, who, on the basis of their previous knowledge about the ergonomic terms and conditions of each workplace, will advise each employee, in a personalized way, after assessing his/her “functional age” and making an initial diagnosis.
Furthermore, and also as part of the “Healthy Company” program, CORREOS has launched the “Wellbeing and Health Channel”, a service which is born with the goal of improving not only the working terms and conditions, but also all those issues regarding the physical, mental, and social wellbeing, that is to say, improving the quality of life of its employees.
Through the new channel, both the workers and their relatives can have access to specialized services on medical, psychological, legal, or dietetic advice.
This initiative accurately reflects CORREOS’ strategic commitment with dealing with its employees’ health with a comprehensive approach, and putting health promotion as a transversal axis which pervades all of its activity and which enjoys the engagement of all the personnel.
