Hipódromo de La Zarzuela launches two new bets for the 2017 Season

  • The Pick 4 and the Gemela colocada (place bet) will be the new kinds of bets which will be available to the public from the opening of the new horse racing Season onward, on next March 5th.
  • The Pick 4 involves getting it right the winners of the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th races, and it will be introduced in the inaugural race meeting, with an initial 1,000€ cumulative jackpot.

The horse racing 2017 Season brings a significant and long awaited novelty to the betting field, since its inaugural day, next Sunday March 5th, those attending the races at the horse racetracks of Hipódromo de La Zarzuela will have at their disposal two new kinds of bets: The Pick 4, and the Gemela Colocada, both available from 1€. Their introduction represents a new step in the process for reorganizing the internal betting which the Madrid-based company is implementing in order to facilitate betting and offering attractive incentives to the aficionados to horse racing.

The Pick 4 involves getting it right who are the winners of four horse races in a row, specifically, the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th races in each race meeting. This kind of bet will be introduced to the public together with a 1,000€ jackpot, which will accumulate together with the amounts betted. In case that there are no winners, the above might yield very interesting jackpots on the following race meeting. For its part, the Gemela Colocada is a kind of place bet which happens to be very popular in San Sebastián and in other cities, in which for winning the punter must get it right two of the three horses to arrive first to the finish line in a race.

The totalization betting system is already capable of supplying information about these new kind of bets through the facility’s screen network. The likely dividends of the Pick 4 will appear from the fourth race onwards, combining all the winners with those taking part in the fifth race. In the case of the Gemela, aficionados will be informed in the same way as with the Placed Bet, that is, they will be supplied with data on the money wagered on that race, but not with the likely dividends.

The Pick 4 presents an additional feature in comparison with other types of bets, and that is the so-called “replacement horse”. In the case that any of the horses on which a bet was made were to be withdrawn from his race, the money will not be returned to the punter, since the late scratching will be automatically replaced by the favorite in that race (the horse which collects the most bets).

The last stage of the refurbishment of the internal betting will conclude on the next following months with the introduction of a remote betting system within the horse racetracks (betting from the mobile through the use of an app) and the cashless betting, against the punter’s bank account.
