  • The Deputy Secretary of Stated for Economics and Support for Companies takes office of his position in the Board after Mr. Fernando Jiménez Latorre’s departure

    The Deputy Secretary of State for Economics and Support for Companies from the Ministry of Economics and Competitiveness, Mr. Íñigo Fernández de Mesa Vargas, has taken office as Member of SEPI’s Board of Directors in the meeting held by the highest-level governing body of the state-owned industrial holding company Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Industriales (SEPI).

    SEPI’s Chairman, Mr. Ramón Aguirre, welcomed the new Member of the Board, while at the same time he expressed his gratitude to the departing Mr. Fernando Jiménez Latorre for his work and dedication during the time he was a Member of the Board of Directors.

    SEPI’s new Director, Mr. Íñigo Fernández de Mesa, is a graduate in Economics by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a civil service commercial expert and economist. He has filled a number of positions of responsibility in international organizations, such as that of Executive Director at the World Bank, at the European Investment Bank, and the European Investment Fund. In the Spanish Administration, in his capacity as General Deputy Director for International Financing he was the Spanish representative in the Paris Club of the Foreign Transactions Department.

    After holding managerial positions at different private sector financial entities, and prior to his holding his current position as Deputy Secretary of State for Economics and Support for Companies, in 2012 he was appointed Secretary General of the Treasury and Financial Policy at the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, while at the same time being a Member of the Councils of Spain’s Central Bank and of the CNMV (Spain’s SEC).

    SEPI’s Board of Directors is made up by its Chairman, Mr. Ramón Aguirre, its Vice President, Mr. Federico Ferrer, the Secretary General and of the Board, Ms. María de la Concepción Ordiz, and by representatives from the Ministry of the Presidency; Finance and Public Administrations; Economy and Competitiveness; Defense; Industry, Energy and Tourism; Employment and Social Security; Public Works, and Agriculture, Food, and the Environment.

    Grupo SEPI is a corporate holding which includes a total of 16 state-owned companies in which it has direct, majority shareholding participations - with a final workforce of 75,000 professionals - the Spanish state-owned television and radio corporation, Corporación Radiotelevisión Española, which is attached to SEPI, and one public foundation.
