This morning, Ms. Begoña Cristeto, General Secretary for Industry and for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises has assumed office as a Member of the Board of Directors of SEPI, during the meeting held by the highest governing body of the state-owned industrial holding company Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Industriales.

SEPI’s Chairperson, Mr. Ramón Aguirre, welcomed the new Director, while at the same time acknowledging the work and dedication showed by Mr. Luis Valero during the months in which he was Member of the Board of Directors.

The General Secretary for Industry and the Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Ms. Begoña Cristeto, is a graduate in Economics by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and a civil servant commercial expert and economist. She has developed her professional career in the Central Government, with senior positions at the ICEX, the Ministry of Economics and Finance and at the Deputy Secretary for Tourism and Commerce. In November 2005 she was appointed Chief Executive Officer in the company for promoting and attracting foreign investments, and afterwards Deputy General Manager in charge of the budgetary office at the Ministry for Science and Innovation. She has also been General Secretary at the Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo (Spanish agency for promoting international development). Until her new appointment, she was Chief Executive Officer at the Empresa Nacional de Innovación. She is also the Chairperson at the Centro Español de Metrología.

SEPI’s Board of Directors is made up by its Chairperson, Mr. Ramón Aguirre, the Vice President, Mr. Federico Ferrer, the General Secretary and of the Board, Ms. Mª de la Concepción Ordiz, and by representatives from the Ministry of the Presidency; Finance and Public Administrations; Economy and Competitiveness; Defense; Industry, Energy and Tourism; Employment and Social Security; Public Works; and Agriculture, Food and the Environment.
