SEPI’s Board of Directors authorizes NAVANTIA to conclude a guarantee line for the jacket program for the East Anglia One project

  • The jackets will be built at Fene, and they will provide one Million hours of work for about 600/700 people.

During the meeting held this morning, the Board of Directors of the Spanish state-owned industrial holding company (SEPI) has authorized NAVANTIA to formalize a line of guarantees with BANKINTER for an amount of more than 28 M€ for the contract for the supply of jackets to the East Anglia One project.

This decision taken by the Board of Directors will allow the consortium made up by NAVANTIA and WINDAR to guarantee the early payment guarantee and the performance security required for the manufacture and supply of a total of 42 jackets, which will be carried out under the same industrial and supply chain plan which was used in the Wikinger programs.

It is worthwhile to recall that in September Iberdrola awarded to NAVANTIA and WINDAR a contract valued in almost 150 M€ for the offshore wind farms East Anglia One, of which about 108 M€ correspond to NAVANTIA and 41 M€ to WINDAR.

The jackets will be built at the shipyard which NAVANTIA has at Fene, while WINDAR will be in charge of building the piles at its facilities in Avilés. The workload linked to this contract amounts to 1 Million hours of work, which will translate into the employment on average of between 600 and 700 workers.

Finally, it is envisaged that the manufacture of the jackets might begin in July 2017, with the goal of being able to deliver them from March to October 2018.

EAST ANGLIA ONE

This offshore wind farm, located on the Southern part of the North Sea, will become one of the largest in the world of its kind once it enters into service. This wind farm includes a total of 102 wind turbines, with a generating capacity of up to 714 MW, which will provide energy to more than 500,000 English households. The wind generators will be installed on jacket-type steel structure equipped with 75 meter-long blades. It must be stressed also that the wind farm will be equipped with an electricity substation, whose construction has also been awarded to NAVANTIA.
