Next Sunday, September 18th, HIPODROMO DE LA ZARZUELA reopens its doors for welcoming the new autumn Season for its 75th anniversary. The Season will last until November 27th, with a total of eleven race meetings, all of them on Sundays and starting on 11:30 am. A total of 1,280,999 € in prize-money will be awarded.
A Season full of great prizes which cannot be skipped, with such significant meetings as that on October 9th, when the Gran Premio de la Hispanidad will be contested; October 23rd, the “Champions’ Day”; and November 13th, when the Great Prize for the 75th Anniversary will take place, when 51,000 € will be given in prizes, of which 30,000 € will be for the winner.
For a memorable start, the first day the program will include the contest of seven exciting horse races, in which will take part 83 horses. The most outstanding will be the Gran Premio Subasta ACPSIE, for two-year old horses which were auctioned in 2015, and two preparatory races for the Gran Premio de la Hispanidad; the Premio Partipral for three-year old colts and fillies, and the Premio Young Tiger for four-year-and over horses and mares, both with a 25,000 € endowment to be awarded to the first four classified, and which will be run on a 1,600 meter-long distance.
Gran Premio Subasta ACPSIE
In the Gran Premio Subasta ACPSIE (A-category) the prize-money will be for the first six colts, which will win a total of 45,000 €, of which 27,000 € will be for the winner among the ten participants which will be at the starting line. This great prize will be contested in the fifth race on a 1,400 meter-long distance, and among the participants stands out Gaston Mix, the only horse in the pack who has won a race before. Rompeolas, who made his debut one month ago at San Sebastián running on the same distance and leaving a good impression, and Star Wars, who has recorded two second places and two third places in the four races in which he has taken part, also must be reckoned with.
The Premio Young Tiger (B-category) will correspond to the second race in the program, and it will be contested by ten pretenders, being Mythical Clover – after his fantastic summer Season at HZ -, Buscavidas, and the already veteran Tío Luis, some of the favorites; the sixth race will correspond to the Premio Partipral (B-category), with eight rivals, with the focus on the long awaited return to the track of Boston Charm, which does not run since last April. We also wish to point out the opportunities of Alfieri, who won three times this spring at La Zarzuela, and of the visiting Molly King.
The first to compete in this inaugural race meeting will be the eleven two-year old colts which will make their debut on the Premio Arqana – FRBC - Zalduendo (Categoría C), on a 1,400 meter-long distance. Names as Laron, Don Miguel, and Sotogrande head the odds.
The third race will correspond to the Premio Quinault, the second part of a two-part handicap which will be run on a 2,100 meter-long distance, and whose result is difficult to forecast, due to the fact that a total of nineteen horses will take part in it. Brigantia, Kingkaye, Belge Menci, and Cuentista might be among the winners; the handicap will be completed by the twelve pretenders of the Premio Familia Galdeano (first part of the handicap), and which is the basis of the horse riding bet Lototurf, with Flanigann, Canciller, and Zuloaga among those who stand out.
The Premio Habit (C-category) will close this exciting meeting, with the participation of thirteen three-year old colts and fillies, who will run on a 1,500 meter-long distance. Plácido and Merón might make up the winning twin bet, which would be completed by Debira for the winning threesome.
