NAVANTIA and Indra test the ICCS system Hermesys for the Mexican Navy

On February 23rd and 24th, NAVANTIA and Indra have carried out at the facilities which NAVANTIA Sistemas has got in San Fernando the factory acceptance tests (FAT) of the first Integrated Communications Control System “Hermesys” for the Oaxaca-class Offshore Patrol Vessels which the Mexican Navy is building at is shipyards.

These tests were attended by officers from the Mexican Navy Department (SEMAR), who besides had the opportunity of gaining a first-hand knowledge about NAVANTIA Sistemas’ and Indra’s capabilities as well as about the solutions, products, and services which can be supplied by them.

This System is the first in a series of four, and it has been contracted through Indra, which in turn acts as the Main Contractor versus SEMAR.

The Integrated Communications Control System Hermesys is the first integrated communications control system based on the “Internet Protocol” technology. It can be defined as the heart of a naval military communications system through which flows the information between the tactical positions and the external communications system. Furthermore, it implements internal communications capabilities which allow to maintain connected the tactical positions among themselves and with other internal communications systems (automated telephony, self-excited telephones, OO.GG. network, etc…).

The first Hermesys system has been recently installed in the sail training ship “Unión” of the Peruvian Navy, and currently these four systems are bein manufactured for the Mexican Navy, and a further two for the Spanish Navy, which will be installed on the new Offshore Patrol Vessels (BAM) which are under construction.
