A new collaboration meeting between ENSA and the Universidad de Cantabria

Recently took place at ENSA’s facilities a new collaboration meeting between the Universidad de Cantabria and ENSA; the meeting was focused on technological and R&D projects, and during it the results of the DESTER project (Soil Decontamination through the use of radioactive isotopes and materials from the demolition of radiological facilities) were made known.

The DESTER project seeks to investigate and develop an effective technique which makes possible concentrating the radiological elements in contaminated soils and from the materials obtained as a result of the dismantling (demolition) of radiological facilities, with the goal of restoring the highest percentage of contaminated soil and minimizing the amount of radioactive waste.

The project takes place within the framework of the first R&D call by the Financial Mechanism Office of the European Economic Area (EEA-GRANTS) as part of the Science and Technology program in the Environment and Climate Change.

The meeting was attended by more than 30 persons; among them were the Vice-Chancellor of the Universidad de Cantabria, Mr. José Carlos Gómez Sal, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Knowledge Transfer, Mr. Ángel Pazos Carro, as well as other representatives and researchers from the Universidad de Cantabria.
