19 May 2016 | Madrid
- Green Soldier is the favorite in the Premio Corpa, and Noozhoh Canarias in the Premio Nertal
- The flea market La Huella Market dedicated to Mexico for completing an unique offer of leisure in the capital
Next Sunday May 22nd, will be the twelfth race meeting of the spring Season at HIPÓDROMO DE LA ZARZUELA, with six horse races which will begin at 11:30 am. Admission will be free for those less than 18 years of age, while for adults the price will be of 5 €, and 1€ will be given free with the first Euro betted, for use during the meeting.
The Gran Premio Beamonte - Oaks Español (A-category), is the most important event in the Season for 3-year old fillies. It will take place in the fifth race on a 2,400 meter-long distance, the prize money will amount to 56,100 €, and it will be contested by eleven candidates which guarantee an exciting fight. Perhaps it is Noctalia who should win the 33,000 € earmarked for the winner; she arrives in top conditions, and she was second by a whisker in the preparatory race, behind Satin Chic, with whom will fight again this time, and which must be taken into account too. Avenue Dargent is another of the favorites, she is the Poule’s winner, but we do not know how she will behave on this distance. Lady Shaana might be a danger for the favorites for the third place of the Comunidad de Madrid; Xiuni or Funny Moon would constitute a surprise.
Premio Corpa – México
The meeting for the long-distance runners will be at the Premio Corpa – México (B-category), with 30,600 € in prize money, in which nine specialists will run on a 3,000 meter-long distance. Green Soldier appears as the first candidate for the victory after his triumph at Premio Indian Prince, a race in which Lateran Accord occupied the second place less than one length behind, and this time he might also be very dangerous; the winning threesome might be completed by Yermo, which has won in his last two races, or L´Avenue; and attention must be paid to Mascarado, who is very good in the long-distance races.
The mile of the Premio Nertal – Tequila José Cuervo (B-category), with 25,500 € in prize money and which is the preparatory race for the Gran Premio Carudel, will host nine pretenders which offer emotion and spectacle in the fight for the 15,000 € which will go to the winner. Noozhoh Canarias is the great favorite, since in his recent triumph he showed that he is intent on improving his record; Portobelo and Alaraz might be his companions on the podium; pay care to Tío Luis, and to Cielo Canarias’ reappearance.
One 1,400 meter-long handicap will be divided between the first race, the Premio Aturuxo, and the sixth race, the Premio Vik. In the first part it might be repeated the twin bet of the Premio Glauco, which was made up by Piquio and Desenmascarado, perhaps this time, the other way round; Charming Star, Ti Faro Verdere Io and Richelieu stand out in the second part.
The contest for the Lototurf bet will take place on a 1,600 meter-long distance in the Premio Folie, with the participation of twelve mares. Miss Moneypenny is the one which has all on her side for winning; she was second in the Poule and deserves this victory; Vamos España and Princesa Canaria, seem to be her most dangerous rivals.
The successful La Huella Market’s flea market will complete the offer of leisure at the El Pardo’s facility, and this time it will be focused on Mexico, with proposals of fashion and from Chiluchi and typical Mexican food. Also present will be the already habitual gastronomic offers of the food trucks, the children’s workshops, and free parking for up to 2,500 cars. Furthermore, HZ makes available to its visitors free buses with departure from Paseo Moret (Moncloa) from 10:30 am.

HZ and Grupo SEPI
HIPÓDROMO DE LA ZARZUELA is part of Patrimonio Histórico Nacional, and its grandstands are regarded as one of Madrid’s twentieth Century architectural masterpieces. The facility covers a 110-hectare surface with a high ecological value, the equivalent to 110 soccer fields, and it has first-level facilities on a privileged location within the city of Madrid, which means that the horse racetracks constitute the most important green lung of the Spanish capital, together with the historical El Retiro Park.
HIPÓDROMO DE LA ZARZUELA belongs to Grupo SEPI, a corporate holding, which is made up by a total of 16 state-owned companies in which it has direct, majority shareholding participations, with a workforce of around 73,000 professionals in 2014; the Spanish state-owned television and radio corporation, Corporación Radiotelevisión Española, which is attached to SEPI, and one public foundation. Equally, SEPI has direct minority shareholdings in a further ten companies and indirect ones in more than one hundred companies.
