Grupo TRAGSA builds the new Visitors Center in the Despeñaperros Natural Park

  • The facilities at the Visitor Center Visitantes Llano de las Américas will make known the main values of the Despeñaperros Natural Park and of the neighboring Natural Site Cascada de la Cimbarra, in Jaen
  • The center has been built by Tragsa and its expositive content is managed by Tragsatec, as is the case with the new path “Estrechos de Miranda”

The Head of the Department for the Environment and Territorial Planning of the Government of Andalusia, Mr. José Fiscal, inaugurated on January 21st the new Visitor Center Llano de las Américas. This has been built with the goal of providing the visitors of the Despeñaperros natural park the keys and the resources needed for knowing about and understanding the values linked to these protected areas, as well as for organizing and managing the visits.

The facility has been built by TRAGSA and its exhibition content is managed by Tragsatec, as is the case with the new path “Estrechos de Miranda”, a trail which starts beside the visitor center itself, and whose signposts have been projected and installed by Tragsatec along all the route.

Tour of the Visitor Center

The exhibition tour features a number of interpretative resources. Through different panels, mockups, real-size reproductions, interactive appliances and sensorial experiences, the tourist can get to know, for instance, the region’s singular orography or its historical past, thanks to a central mockup which shows the relief and the types of landscape in the area, or reproductions of cave paintings of the Iberian votive offerings found at the Cueva de los Muñecos.

Other significant items on display are the reproduction of an specimen of the Iberian Imperial Eagle, artistic reproductions of emblematic animals, such as the lynx and the wolf, or one diorama which shows, both in a visual and in an auditory way the transition from day to night on this area, and an interactive computer which practical information about the urban settlements historically linked to this territory.

All the facilities have been designed with the aim of making them accessible to persons with visual impairment, making use of the braille language as well as of reliefs, which allow to perceive the aspect of the landscape on the central mockup.
