The Global Nature Foundation (FGN) and EFE will collaborate in diffusing the biodiversity wealth

The Global Nature Foundation and AGENCIA EFE, through its environmental information department EFEverde will collaborate in diffusing biodiversity wealth, the preservation and recovery of endangered habitats and species, and on sustainable development.

Thus envisages the collaboration framework agreement concluded by EFE’s Chairman, Mr. José Antonio Vera and by FGN’s General Manager, Mr. Eduardo de Miguel Beascoechea.

This initiative will promote environmental communication initiatives according to journalistic criteria from a multidisciplinary perspective, giving a voice to all the players in the environmental scene and making use from the most traditional communication means to the latest technologies.

In this sense, EFEverde will provide its experience with the production of environmental content and the diffusion on multimedia formats, social networks, or graphical visualization.

Furthermore, the Global Nature Foundation, a nonprofit educational institution, will advise EFEverde on those issues on which its experts can supply skilled information, such as the Natura Network 2000, habitat preservation, or the recovery of sustainable stockbreeding and farming activities.

Besides, the agreement envisages the possibility of taking part in joint projects such as the Life+ initiative from the European Union.

Specialized environmental information

Mr. de Miguel stressed 'the importance of this agreement with EFE, a medium which committed for decades with specialized environmental information and which has been able to innovate through the merger of the classical principles of environmental journalism with the use of new means and formats'.

Mr. De Miguel also pointed out that with this agreement, the preservation of Spanish biodiversity “goes a step forward, since it means adding the forces of a global, rigorous and highly experienced communication to the field work” which Global Nature Foundation has been carrying out for more than twenty years.

EFEverde’s Director, Mr. Arturo Larena, highlighted that with this alliance “opens up a new period and new ways for spreading the fundamental information for having a well-informed Society” on environmental and sustainability issues.

In this sense, FGN constitutes an 'excellent travel companion, a rigorous and credible Foundation, something which we always demand from our sources'.

This agreement joins those already being developed by EFE with institutions from the scientific and environmental sectors, such as the European Space Agency (ESA), the office for the Mediterranean of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Biodiversity Foundation, or with SEO/Birdlife the institution with which it is developing the Activa Red Natura project, among others.

The Global Nature Foundation was established in 1993 and it is a private not-for-profit educational institution with a domestic scope, whose initiatives cover such fields as wetlands recovery, agri-environmental management, fauna and flora preservation, new technologies or LIFE+ projects from the European Union.
