EFEsalud, the website of AGENCIA EFE specialized on health, medicine, and wellbeing, has been awarded the diploma of Meritorious Collaborator 2015 within the category of “Media” by the Instituto Barraquer.

The General Assembly of the above Institute, which is attached to the Barraquer Ophthalmology Center, has bestowed its annual prizes in a ceremony which was chaired by the Center’s professor and director, Mr. Joaquín Barraquer, and during which the Annual Report for last year was passed.

The diploma as Meritorious Collaborator for the Media was granted to the portal www.efesalud.com, as acknowledgment of the merits made in favor of the common goals of both institutions for promoting health and visual health.

The person in charge of EFEsalud, Mr. Javier Tovar, collected the diploma and expressed Agencia EFE’s commitment with the news and reports on health from information about current issues and diffusion, making use of all kinds of media, texts, photographs, video, audio and multimedia contents.

EFESalud

EFEsalud was born three and a half years ago, as an open digital portal for offering society contents which are of social interest, as well as useful and with informative depth, with the aim of enriching and expanding EFE’s journalistic production about health.

At the Assembly of the Instituto Barraquer, which took place two days ago in Barcelona, other diplomas were awarded.

'Social Action', to the Catalonian Association of Opticians and Optometrists; “Industry” to the Carl Zeiss company; and 'Entities', to the Association of Retinitis Pigmentosa.

Also was awarded a special diploma '20th Anniversary' to Unilever, for its collaboration with the humanitarian actions carried out by the Fundación Barraquer; and another diploma as Meritorious Collaborator to the Eye Bank, of Mémora.

The Gold medal of the institution was awarded to Mr. Alberto Madrigal, who along 40 years has performed a number of responsibilities at the Barraquer Ophthalmology Center.

AGENCIA EFE and Grupo SEPI

The state-owned news agency AGENCIA EFE belongs to Grupo SEPI, a corporate holding which includes a total of 16 state-owned companies in which it has direct, majority shareholding participations, with a workforce of around 73,000 professionals in 2014; the Spanish state-owned television and radio corporation, Corporación Radiotelevisión Española, which is attached to SEPI, and one public foundation. Equally, SEPI has direct minority shareholdings in a further ten companies, and indirect shareholdings in more than one hundred companies.
