SEPI appoints Mr. Esteban García Vilasánchez as NAVANTIA’s Chairman

The Board of Directors of the Spanish state-owned industrial holding company SEPI has appointed Mr. Esteban García Vilasánchez as Chairman of NAVANTIA; Mr. García Vilasánchez enjoys a wide experience in the shipbuilding industry, and before he was the Head of Programs in the company.
Mr. García Vilasánchez began his professional career in 1990 in NAVANTIA’s Off-Shore area, reaching in 2004 the position of Head of Ship Repairs in the Ferrol-Fene shipyard. In 2009 he was appointed the Head of the Ferrol-Fene shipyard, and he took part in the frigate program for Norway, in the F100 Frigates, and in the LHD Juan Carlos I for the Spanish Navy, and in the LHD program for the Royal Australian Navy. In 2012 he was appointed Industrial Director for NAVANTIA, and later Head for Programs, a position which he has held until now.
The newly appointed Chairman will have to tackle the new Strategic Plan for NAVANTIA which is being promoted by SEPI with the goal of reinforcing the Company’s efficiency and sustainability, promoting its impact on those economic areas on which its shipyards are located.
Mr. García Vilasánchez replaces to Mr. José Manuel Revuelta Lapique, who had requested his replacement to SEPI’s Chairwoman, Mr. Pilar Platero, as he thought that he had completed a period during which new orders had been secured and promoted a Transformation Plan which now must be consolidated with the Strategic Plan for the company.
