• The motor fleet is modernized with 1,000 motorbikes, 220 600-kilogram vans, 136 1,200-kilogram vans, and 15 1,500-kilogram vans

CORREOS has renovated this year once again its fleet of vehicles with the purchase of 1,000 motorbikes of the Piaggio Liberty 125 model, 220 Renault Kangoo vans with a 600 kg of useful weight, 136 Citroën Jumpy vans with a 1,200 kg of useful weight, and 15 vans with a 1,500 kg of useful weight. These purchases have meant an investment –not including the 15 largest vans, whose award is pending until September – of 5,217,520 €, and are part of a set of measures which is being implemented by the postal company for the homogenous renovation of its fleet and its expansion wherever it is needed, in order to reinforce the delivery service performed with vehicles.

The models chosen this time had already been purchased in previous occasions. The experience obtained by CORREOS’ employees with these vehicles has allowed to request from the suppliers to adapt better their machines’ performance to the daily postal delivery service.

The new shipment combines an increased safety and comfort, together with a reduced consumption and less polluting emissions. This measure joins others carried out by the postal company in order to reduce as much as possible the environmental impact of its activities.

CORREOS will distribute these vehicles from October to the end of the year. The motorbikes will begin to circulate in October and November, while the Kangoo, will arrive to the delivery units from November to mid-December, and the Citroën Jumpy, during November and December. The 15 large vans, whose purchase will take place this September, will be distributed also in December.

CORREOS’ fleet is made up by more than 13,000 vehicles, of which about 9,000 are motorbikes. They cover more than 25 Million kilometers every year for delivering around 3,600 Million shipments per year.
