SEPI's Board of Directors authorizes the appointments of the Chairpersons of NAVANTIA and SAECA

The Board of Directors of the state-owned industrial holding company Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Industriales (SEPI) has agreed in its meeting which took place today to propose to the corresponding General Meetings the appointment of Mr. Aurelio Martínez Estévez as the new Chairperson of NAVANTIA, S.A., and of Ms. Rosa María Miguélez Ramos as the Chairperson of Sociedad Anónima Estatal de Caución Agraria (SAECA).

Mr. Aurelio Martínez Estévez is Professor of Applied Economics and a PhD in Economics and Business Administration by the Universidad de Valencia. He becomes the Chairperson of NAVANTIA, SEPI's shipbuilding company; previously he filled the position of Chairperson in the Instituto de Crédito Oficial (ICO) since May 2004. He has also filled other senior positions in the Administration, both at national and regional level, such as Head of the Economics department in the Office of the Presidency from 1991 to 1993; afterwards, he was Head of the Economics and Finance Department in the regional government of the Generalitat Valenciana, and Chairperson of the Instituto Valenciano de Finanzas (Financial Institute of the region of Valencia).

Previously, within the private financial sector, Mr. Martínez Estévez was Vice President of the savings bank Caixa d'Estalvis Provincial de Valencia and General Secretary of the savings bank federation of Valencia, the Federación Valenciana de Cajas de Ahorro. Until he became Chairperson of the ICO, he was in charge of the Observatory for the International Economic Climate (OCEI) and Head of the Economic Structure Department of the Universidad de Valencia.

Ms. Rosa María Miguélez Ramos has been a Deputy in the European Parliament from July 1999 to July 2009; she studied Biology in France, in the School of Saint-Charles in Marseille, and of Romanesque Languages in the Philology School of Santiago de Compostela, Spain. She will take over the Chair of SAECA, a company which specializes in providing coverage (guarantees and bonds) in the forestry, farm, agribusiness and fishing industries, after having filled the position, during 10 years, of Senior Vice President of Fisheries in the European Parliament, in which she also was a Member of the Commission for Farming and Rural Development, and of the Commission for Regional Policy, Transportation and Tourism, besides being a Member of EUROLAT (European and Latin American Parliaments).

Before her being a Representative in the European Parliament, Ms. Rosa María Miguélez had been the Mayor of Ares, a small sea-town located near the city of El Ferrol, in Northwestern Spain, from 1983 to 1987; she was in charge of the Office of the Head of the Labor and Welfare Department in the regional Government of Galicia, and a Deputy in the regional Parliament of Galicia.
