Technological Center of Mercury
The Mercury Technological Center was set up as the national center for drawing together the initiatives for the research and technological development applied to the environmental problems raised by mercury and the health risks it poises. It was born as a place for collaboration with all the working groups, research institutes, universities and institutions, both at domestic and at international level, which are interested on the search of the knowledge and of solutions for the problems raised by this metal.
The Center carries out research work focused on offering scientific and technological support to those companies and institutions which require it for alleviating or elimination the risks attached to mercury’s presence in products, emissions, waste, and for taking part in projects and studies at international level.

MAYASA belongs to Grupo SEPI, a corporate holding which includes a total of 16 state-owned companies in which it has direct, majority shareholding participations, with a final workforce of around 73,000 professionals in 2014; the Spanish state-owned television and radio corporation, Corporación Radiotelevisión Española, which is attached to SEPI, and one public foundation.
