MERCASA commemorates its 50 year history and presents the ‘Merca’ of the future in Fruit Attraction 2016

In coincidence with MERCASA’s 50th anniversary, which takes place this year, and with the goal of taking advantage of the projection towards the future of the new Merca’s design on which work is going on, MERCASA has organized its participation in the Fair Fruit Attraction 2016, which will take place in Madrid in October 5th to 7th.

Taking advantage of the strong impact generated by this fair, MERCASA will set up an innovative and interactive stand, on a preferential location (on the access lobby to Pavilion no. 3 at IFEMA’s trade show facilities).

MERCASA’s stand, which in practice is the stand of all Mercas, will exhibit the graphical items which illustrate MERCASA’s history and the key issues of the Merca of the future, on an open area on which will be held also fruit and vegetable tastings, and on which will be supplied information and advise on how to handle and consume the different products.

The Merca of the future

Furthermore, within the framework of the technical symposia which the Fair organizes within the Innova Forum, MERCASA has included a specific symposium on the Merca of the future, which will take place on October 6th, from 12:30 am to 1:30 pm, through a round table and an open discussion, which is expected will be attended by around 100 persons, representatives from corporations, managers, and users and costumers which operate around the Mercas.

The symposium will take place on the site Foro Innova 4, between the 2nd and 4th pavilions, very close to MERCASA’s stand.

With this presence in Fruit Attraction, MERCASA will highlight the services offer provided from the Mercas, within the framework of what has already become one of the most important fairs in the world in the fruit and vegetable industry.

MERCASA, the state-owned company which manages, together with the respective town councils the network made up by 23 large Mercas in Spain, will present during this meeting the strategic orientations which define the Merca of the future, integrating the wholesale trade of fresh food with new products and logistical and distribution services, until they become integral food parks focused on all the links of the food chain.

Persons who will give a speech:

  • Mr. Eduardo Ameijide y Montenegro, MERCASA’s Chairman
  • Mr. Pablo González González, Head of Strategy and Operations at MERCASA
  • Mr. David Chica Marcos, General Manager of Mercamadrid
  • Mr. Josep Tejedo Fernández, General Manager of Mercabarna

The symposium will take place on Thursday, October 6th, from 12:30 am to 1:30 pm, at the connecting place of Pavilions 2-4. Foro Innova.
