Innovation and Digitalization
Grupo SEPI progresses decisively in its commitment to modernizing its companies. In 2024 it applied 188.3 M€ to innovation and digitalization.
From the strategic industries in which it operates, the Group promotes a solid digital transformation, coordinated and oriented towards the future.
With the support of European funds and technological alliances, SEPI coordinates corporate projects which position the state-owned enterprises as a referent in open innovation and sustainable digitalization. A joint effort which translates into more efficient processes, renewed technological infrastructures, and a continued improvement in the provision of public and corporate services.
Innovative projects
From NAVANTIA’s digital twins and offshore wind energy to CORREOS’ intelligent logistics, or SAECA’s wholly online guarantees platform, the Group’s companies make use of new digital tools, automation, artificial intelligence and the consolidation of advanced management systems which reinforce its competitiveness and its ability to answer to the new challenges.
Grupo CORREOS promotes digitalization with automated processes and efficient payments which strengthen its value chain. Correoslabs stands out in the promotion of open innovation with professionals, developing new business models and strategic alliances.
In shipbuilding, Grupo NAVANTIA investment reached the amount of 152 M€ in 2024, applied to the digitalization of its industrial and logistics processes through artificial intelligence, automation, new technological platforms and infrastructure modernization, while reinforcing cybersecurity and talent management.
The environmental and agribusiness companies of Grupo SEPI have reinforced their digital transformation with the automation of administrative and operative processes, the implementation of industrial identification and control systems in production, and the improvement of digital services for the personnel.
In energy, the groups ENUSA, ENSA and HUNOSA have progressed in the digitalization and automation of processes, and, in food distribution, Grupo MERCASA has made inroads in the comprehensive digitalization of its operations.
For its part, the news agency AGENCIA EFE has acquired Robotic Process Automation technologies, artificial intelligence and automated backup systems and new tools for energy efficiency, while Grupo SEPIDES promotes digital capabilities and new energy analysis platforms.
COFIVACASA has wholly digitalized its document and accounting with safe solutions based on ciphering and RFID.
SEPI and Fundación SEPI keep on modernizing their corporate internal management platforms, reinforcing efficiency and traceability.
Fundación Cotec
As part of this context in favor of innovation, SEPI is a member of the Board of Trustees of Fundación Cotec para la Innovación since 2018, as a Patrono Benefactor de Número. This memberships is the result of one of the entity’s commitments to promote R&D.
